Spotlighting upcoming releases that I'm eagerly anticipating!
Heartless by Marissa Meyer
Pub. Nov. 8th, 2016
Long before she was the terror of Wonderland — the infamous Queen of Hearts — she was just a girl who wanted to fall in love.
Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.
At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king's marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.
Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans. -Goodreads
Heartless is basically my most anticipated book of the year! Words cannot express how excited to enter a new world of Marissa Meyer, and to be able to share the experience with my mom will only increase it tenfold. This year my mom started reading more, and when she asked for suggestions I promptly handed her my paperback copy of Cinder (I wasn't about to entrust my hardback copy just yet.) WELL LET ME TELL YOU SOMETHING, SHE LOVED IT! Okay, so she finished that and was all in a hurry to get to the next book and I'm all "chill mom, I've got you covered" and then handed over Scarlet. I swear it felt like reliving my discovery of this series all over again *HAPPY DANCE*
She told me how immersed she was in the characters and how vividly she could imagine them, the environment and the thrill of the plot. I suppose that's how a love for reading starts, or restarts; it never occurred to me how it takes a certain book to ignite imagination, or at least how impactful a book can be towards it. She's currently in the middle of Winter and she's still in love with not only the fantastic fairy tale retelling, but (as she's told me many many many times,) Marissa Meyer's writing. I recently told her about Heartless and the upcoming graphic novel that's coming out, and she's definitely earmarked her loan on my pre-ordered copies, haha! I'm just so thrilled to have found this unexpected bond with my mom and I'm looking forward to Heartless more each day.
Love the cover! The blurb is intriguing too. Thanks for sharing, and hope you enjoy this when you get to read it, especially since you're so excited :)
