Good day everyone! Soundtrack Saturday is a meme I thought up :)
Instructions:
Find a song that fits the overall tone or mood of the current book you are reading.
Right now I'm reading The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The song I chose to fit this book is the Davy Jones Theme by Hans Zimmer (one of my most favorite contemporary composers!)
[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bTujbt6svc]
This song can be seen as representing the setting for The Night Circus, as the music box gracefully tinkles in the beginning before graduating to a more dramatic organ and string combo (at 1:14) and then subsiding back into the gentle music box notes (at 2:37.) All of this symbolizes the sweet clarity of the innocence of daytime, before suddenly becoming alive at night as The Night Circus opens with it's magical dark whimsy and then as dawn floats around, back to the purity of morning.
Although I haven't finished the book yet, the song may also represent the main characters, as they begin innocent and then grow into illustrious magicians of mystery. Perhaps towards the end there's a calmness in the love they find in each other? I suppose I'll find out!
Happy Reading!
Great post! Nice way to combine music love with book love ~ it's hard not to create a soundtrack for the book your reading :)Totally joining in on the fun! Here's mine...
